It's about the Blood!

Sunday was so exciting! We had 3 Blood Mobiles here from Life Stream. Greg & his daughter Angela Campbell; Steve, Cathy, Amanda & Justin Lake; Janai Ederaine, Chris Castillo & Ida Saadati along with a few other volunteers headed up the Blood/Bone Marrow drive. The entire volunteer team did a fantastic job!!! We ended up with 88 people that gave blood.

Greg Campbell, Steve, Cathy, Amber and Justin Lake started helping at our very first Blood/Bone Marrow drive. They have become very passionate about people giving blood to save lives. We get excited talking about how we can get more people to donate blood. Steve is a Fireman/Paramedic and he sees the great need for blood on a daily basis. Giving blood has been a passion for me. (I have to admit when I was 18 I started giving because I would get out of work for a few hours.)

We've also encouraged people to sign up for the bone marrow registry. I signed up years ago for a 6 year old girl in Norco that needed it. I've never been selected yet, but if that day comes, I can't wait to help save a life. At Crossroads we have had Craig Mellen and Nicole Schulz receive bone marrow and they are alive today because someone cared!

Crossroads is a church passionately committed to Christ, His Cause, and His Community. Saving lives by giving blood and/or joining the Bone Marrow registry touches all three areas.

Football @ Third Place Cafe

I really enjoyed last Sunday night in the Third Place Cafe. We had buffalo wings, hamburgers and hot dogs. There were a lot volunteers doing the cooking and serving...not to mention it was all men!!! The football game was on and it was a good night for guy fun!

Thanks to all those volunteers who make it happen! If you haven't gone, you need to try it out on Sunday evenings. Maybe you can volunteer and have fun with the other guys!!!

Servant Leadership

We have a mom who has been attending Crossroads for 13 years with her 17 year old son who is autistic. They come to church and listen from the little hallway just outside the door. She comforts him as he kicks, fidgets and makes noises. She just wants to participate in our church services without him distracting others.

Sunday, Jennifer Felix (Director of Disabilities) and Sharon Bautista (Key Volunteer for Disabilities) came up to me so excited! They had offered to watch him while mom attended service "inside" and she was able to get the nourishment from God that she needed.

Jennifer & Sharon had quite an adventure with him...he got away and they had to chase him, he grabbed a donut from the cafe and shoved it in his mouth and it just got a little crazy!

What's exciting to me is that they had to struggle with him, but now they want to do this every week to enable that mom to get time with the Lord. She came out of the service in tears because she had the ability to attend a service!!! They want to work with him each week to help him get used to being around others.

Jennifer & Sharon are leaders with the Disabilities ministry and yet they are serving this mom! That is a great example of "servant leadership" Thank you Jennifer and Sharon for letting God use you in a mighty way! It made my day!

If you would like to volunteer in this ministry or any other ministry, please contact me at charlotte@crossroadschurch.com! You will be blessed when you serve!

What a Night @ Membership Dinner!

Last night we had our membership dinner. The people that jumped in and helped out are so appreciated!!! We couldn't have done it without them and it was a spirit filled evening. I could write forever about all the things they did, but I'm going to tell you their names and I know they would say, "oh, I didn't do that much"...they are so humble. They are so appreciated and loved...what a family we have!

Ephesians 6:7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men!

If I have missed someone, let me know and I'll add them to this list!
